Grand miroir mural de forme libre

Description
c. 1948
Large “Freeform” mirror
Embossed and glazed earthenware, crackled gold and platinum.
Comparable to the smaller version reproduced on p. 67 of the monograph Le Luxe discret du quotidien.
The “Freeform” model was created around 1948 in two sizes and was never put into wider production. This trial piece, made by Mithé Espelt herself, is notable for the rare use of kiln-fired platinum. An exceptionally rare model: likely only 2 or 3 examples with platinum, and fewer than 20 featuring only glaze or crackled gold.
