IKB® Coffee Table – Yves Klein

Description
IKB® pigment, plexiglass, glass.
Signed “R. Klein Moquay” and numbered on a label affixed to the underside of the table.
Starting in 1963, this edition was initiated by Yves Klein’s widow, Rotraut Klein-Moquay, who continues to oversee its production today through the Yves Klein Archives.
The table is produced in three variations, each faithful to the materials favored by Klein: IKB® blue pigment, Monopink™ pigment, and gold leaf in the Monogold™ table: a trilogy that reflects the radical chromatic universe conceived by the artist.
The example presented here contains patented IKB® pigment, the iconic shade invented by Yves Klein in 1960 (French patent numbers INPI n°63471, 63470, 63469).
The contrast between the transparency of the plexiglass and the intensity of the pure color expresses Klein’s desire to liberate color from form and grant it full autonomy.
The editions are strictly controlled and limited, produced each year in small numbers: a key factor in their rarity and continued presence on the international market.
